While the majority of our work is done for homeowners doing residential remodeling and redesign projects, we also work with business owners who are sprucing up their offices, retail stores, restaurants or other commercial spaces.

My client of the month is someone I was in contact with ten years ago when my son got married. It was such a happy time for us; we chose the Abbington Distinctive Banquets in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, for the event.

When I went with the groom and bride-to-be to check out the banquet facility, I thought to myself, “This is such a pretty hall, but I don’t like the window treatments. I wish I could redo them!” I guess I put that thought out into the universe and it took ten years to come true. That’s right; ten years after being in the banquet hall, I got a call to give an estimate to redesign the draperies for the entry hall – which has fourteen windows!

The hall is traditional with a touch of modernity, and the fourteen arched windows give the hall a feel of grandiosity. The beautiful crystal chandeliers across the width of the hall give the entire place a look of total splendor.

My idea was to enhance the height of the windows by starting the drapery panels from the very top of the arch, keeping the window as open as possible to allow in as much light as possible. Another idea was to incorporate crystals as a key element of the design.

We created some board-mounted panels with six long pleats to be installed on each side of the arch. On each pleat, we added a band with seven rows of crystals to grab your attention from yards away.

The result is STUNNING! The client is beyond happy.
