Tim recently asked me to create a charming valance for his powder room.
He had just applied a stunning new wallpaper, but felt the room still lacked that finishing touch. The narrow window, in particular, needed a fabric treatment to complete the overall design of the space.

When I first looked at the window, I immediately thought that its tall, narrow shape called for either a side panel or a cascading design to draw attention to its height. Tim and I began browsing fabrics, and one instantly stood out to both of us. It was the perfect choice: a cream-colored fabric with embroidered wide stripes, each featuring rows of delicate circles in soft shades of light blue, green, lavender, and taupe.

For the design, I opted for a curved-bottom cornice, carefully centering one of the embroidered stripes in the middle. To add interest and asymmetry, I paired a short cascade on the right with a longer one on the left, lining the cream-colored fabric with a pale green to complement the powder room’s palette.
The final result was fun, distinctive, and truly completed the room’s look.
Best of all, Tim absolutely loved it!
